Fof-smǟ Kez (/fof/ /smaː/ [army] [area; territory]) is a temperate Town located in the Nomediiëk Moot of the Viceroyalty of Rosid.

The name Fof-smǟ Kez is derived from the Wood Elvish language, as Fof-smǟ Kez was founded by Vúchvé̄ Vúnvó 'Thymessi Foxy' Mēs Vúó Ma̋ń Ezaenzo, who was culturaly Wood Elven.

Climate

Fof-smǟ Kez has a yearly average temperature of 2°C (35°F), with its average temperature during the summer being an icy 19°C (66°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cool -15°C (5°F). Fof-smǟ Kez receives an average of 286 cm/y (112 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of snow during the pleasantly short winter months. Fof-smǟ Kez covers an area of nearly 4 km2 (1 mi2), and an average elevation of 1682 m (5518 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Fof-smǟ Kez was founded durring the late 14th century in winter of the year 1279, by Vúchvé̄ Vúnvó 'Thymessi Foxy' Mēs Vúó Ma̋ń Ezaenzo. The establishment of Fof-smǟ Kez suffered from several major issues, resulting in the need to develop many solutions to basic problems. Problems such as a lack of fresh water, logistical support, poor quality tools, and the odd monster or two. Howeaver, these were overcome in time.

Fof-smǟ Kez was built using the conventions of Wood Elven durring the late 14th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Fof-smǟ Kez is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Fof-smǟ Kez is buildings are located arround a single broad split-log ties mainstreet which forms a clockwise spiral to give the town a over all circular shape. The town sits behind an impressive looking clay brick wall. The wall is notable for querried stone blocks being used to renforce the clay bricks in the expected manner and locations. While the wall was built to the exact specifications of modern fortifications, one has to wonder why the money invested into creating such a well fortified wall wasnt spent on a less impressive looking wall crated from sturdier materials. Fof-smǟ Kez's walls would endure a brief bombardment, but only from light siege weapons. It seems more likly the town's walls were not designed with defence in mind but rather lending the town a certain air with visitors. Unfortuantly, these boondoggle-of-a-fortified wall are in extreem disrepair, so much so that one cannot tell if they are decaying from a lack of mantance or damage incured.

Right off the bat Fof-smǟ Kez hits you in the face with its success. Everyone, even the peasants, are dressed in well made clothing. Every tool and implement you can see is finely made, and people will boast to you as obvious strangers of the wonders which can be found in their markets. More interestingly is a total lack of beggars, and plenty of new buildings are going up even as you speak. Somehow this town has come into quite a lot of wealth, and recently from the looks of things. The town is very clearly a joyfull place as well as wealthy. Music can be heard often, as well as laughter. The smell of food and drink permiates the air. You can’t help but smile.

Civic Infrastructure

Fof-smǟ Kez has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Fof-smǟ Kez.

Fof-smǟ Kez has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Fof-smǟ Kez's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Fof-smǟ Kez has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands.

Fof-smǟ Kez has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Cultural Notes

Fof-smǟ Kez's garrison was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is admittedly strange and non-linear style rooted in defiance of symmetrical shapes. It championed the creation of buildings with a unique visual appearance. the structural norms of classic buildings and deforms or moves away from elementary architectural principles. By including non-linear designs processed into its buildings and favoring fragmentation, this style expressed a form of controlled chaos. Its buildings appear out-of-the-ordinary, draw the eye in immediately and sometimes create a feeling of strangeness. These distorted shapes and structure are not reserved to the building’s outer facade, they destabilize interior elements too, favoring minimalism and play on people’s perceptions by injecting a futuristic touch.

Fof-smǟ Kez's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in winter and involves drinking to channel Conjuration energies of tier 1 via moments of science.

History

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the early 2nd century after an anomalously snowy winter, runoff from snow-melt caused Pond Zapatera to overflow its banks and spill into Brook Moaning. The resulting flood was isolated to the area around Fof-smǟ Kez, which was swallowed by the waters for several days. Fof-smǟ Kez lost 129 people, 311 livestock, and 64 buildings in the disaster. The disaster is remembered as the Doom Drownings.
